This is a press release from Teatro ni Juan.
In celebration of Buwan ng Wika back in August, Teatro ni Juan presented their reinterpretation of classic Filipino folk songs and nursery rhymes to contemporary narratives with "OYAYI: Tinig ng mga Hiraya't Pagkarahuyo". An 8-part audio drama series, OYAYI is a collective composition that begs to provide what the eyes can’t see to challenge the listener's imagination in bridging the gap between fact and fiction.
Set from 1983 up to the distant future, each episode features damaged tales and conversations of tragedy that are unearthed from the dark - in which one would question the familiarity to these tunes; an earworm that one cannot get rid of. OYAYI is the lullaby to keep you up at night.
OYAYI: Tinig ng mga Hiraya't Pagkarahuyo culminated Teatro ni Juan's 14th Theatre Season: TULDOK-KUWIT by staying true to its mission of sharing dynamic narratives of relevance and perception. As Marikina's Premier Community Theatre, TNJ further explores the digital stage as a platform for discussion in providing necessary theatre in these trying times.
In partnership with BORN IN FILM, OYAYI premiered on August 27. Succeeding episodes will be made available every Friday night on Spotify and Teatro ni Juan's Facebook page (@TeatroniJuanPH).
Join us as we speak to the team behind the production live exclusively on Film Factor Podcast this coming Oct 9.
TRIGGER WARNING: OYAYI contains themes, language, violence, sex, drug use, and other issues that may not be suitable for young audiences. Listeners’ discretion is advised.
